This exciting, innovative and intensive 1-year course, offers media training to talented individuals wishing to pursue a career in television presenting. Each module has been specially chosen to reflect industry requirements ensuring a comprehensive and practical skill base on graduation. Participants will have the opportunity to explore and develop their own individual and personal style of TV presenting and record on location and in the studio the 3 major areas of TV Presenting; interview, autocue and piece to camera. They will also collaborate with the Television students on a two week magazine style program. Students will have access to professional camera equipment and editing software to assist them in the development of a show reel. Our purpose built facilities include a TV studio, control room, editing suites with the latest digital technologies. This course also offers skills which will ensure a practical knowledge of the television industry as well as self-promotion techniques. The balance of practical, analytical and academic modules will enable graduates to confidently look for inspiring and challenging industry positions.

Entry Requirements:

Five passes in Leaving Certificate/LCVP with a pass in English or a merit in Leaving Certificate Applied or FETAC Level 4 Certificate. Applicants should show an interest in and an aptitude for media at the interview. The academic entry requirements may be waived for mature applicants (21+).

Certification:

FETAC level 5 Certificate in Media production (EMPXX)

Progression:

The course is designed for progression into the world of work. Graduates are also eligible to progress to Higher Education Courses through the Higher Education Links Scheme and through the Pilot Scheme. Graduates with a merit profile may apply for entry to BTEC Higher National Diploma Courses in BCFE.

Portfolio Guidelines:

Candidates must have a pre-recorded 1 minute piece to camera or should have a one minute script prepared on any subject which will be recorded at the interview stage. Please bring to interview any additional relevant material.
