The course will give students an introduction to one of the three main disciplines of the music industry, depending on the strand selected by the student. The course offers three strands in the areas of music management, music engineering and music performance each offering a different certification. The course is designed to enable students to develop the skills necessary for work in a dynamic and ever changing music industry.

Music Engineering Strand:

Music Performance Strand:
Event Production, Music Industry Studies, Media Analysis, Safety and Health at Work, Communications, Work Experience, Information and Communications Technology, Music, Music Performance (pending approval).

Entry Requirements:

Five passes in Leaving Certificate/LCVP including a pass in English or a merit in Leaving Certificate Applied or FETAC level 4 Certificate. The academic entry requirements may be waived for mature applicants (21+).

Certification:

  • Music Management Strand FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Business Studies (BBSXX)

  • Music Engineering Strand FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Media Engineering (EMEXX)

  • Music Performance Strand FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Performance Arts Music (EPAMX)

    Progression:

    Graduates are eligible to apply to progress to Higher Education Courses through the Higher Education Links Scheme and through the Pilot Scheme. Graduates with a merit profile may apply for entry to BTEC Higher National Diploma Courses in BCFE.
