This course is aimed at students with an interest in developing a career in the computer games industry. The course covers all aspects of computer games design from artistic and technical to conceptual and academic areas.

Course Content:

Games Production and Design, Games Design Theory, 2D Image Processing and Animation, 3D Modelling, Basic Games Programming, Desktop Audio, Small Business Development, Storyboarding for Games, Cultural Interpretation, Multimedia Professional Practice, Marketing Development, Engine Programming for Games, Advanced 3D Modelling and Animation, Advanced Games Production and Design.

Entry Requirements:

Leaving Certificate / LCVP with a minimum of two HC3s and three passes at ordinary level including a minimum of OC3 in maths, or FETAC level 5 Certificate with a merit profile. Basic computer skills and artistic or problem-solving skills required. The academic entry requirements may be waived for mature applicants (21+).

Certification:

BTEC Higher National Diploma in Computer Games Design.
