Leaving Certificate/LCVP with a minimum of two HC3s and three passes at ordinary level or FETAC level 5 Certificate with a merit profile or BTEC National Diploma with a merit profile. Applicants should demonstrate the interest and potential to acquire high level skills in TV operations. A portfolio of photography or video work should be brought to the interview. See Portfolio Guidelines. The academic entry requirements may be waived for mature applicants (21+).
BTEC Higher National Diploma in Media (Television Operations and Production)
Graduates may gain exemption from one or two years of degree courses in the UK. Graduates who achieve a merit/distinction in the Higher National Diploma may apply for entry to BA (Hons) in Media Production Management in BCFE.
Each candidate will be interviewed on his or her portfolio work. The portfolio interview will last approximately 20 minutes. The portfolio should contain items that are current or relevant to the application. The emphasis should be on quality and not quantity. Video work should be presented on DVD (finalised). If your video is a group production, you should show a part that contains your own work. Photographic work should show your skills in lighting, framing and composition and possibly sequence. No more than 20 photos should be presented. Storyboards may also be presented.
