Five passes in Leaving Certificate/LCVP or a merit in Leaving Certificate Applied or FETAC level 4 Certificate. Students should bring relevant work such as photography, scripts, storyboards or video work to the interview. See Portfolio Guidelines. The academic entry requirements may be waived for mature applicants (21+).
FETAC Level 5 Certificate in TV and Film Production (ETFPX)
Graduates are eligible to apply to progress to Higher Education Courses through the Higher Education Links Scheme and through the Pilot Scheme. Graduates with a merit profile may apply for entry to BTEC Higher National Diploma Courses in BCFE.
Each candidate will be interviewed on his or her portfolio work. The portfolio interview will last approximately 20 minutes. The portfolio should contain items that are current or relevant to the application. The emphasis should be on quality and not quantity. Video work should be presented on DVD (finalised) or VHS. If your video is a group production, you should show a part that contains your own work. Photographic work should show your skills in lighting, framing and composition and possibly sequence. No more than 20 photos should be presented. Storyboards may also be presented.
